TS Genco has commenced the generation of hydro power from its 15 MW Hydro-Power Project at Singuru in the district on Tuesday.Due to increasing inflows to Singur project, constructed across Manjira, following heavy rains upstream, water level at the project is nearing full reservoir level. The project is currently at 29.5 TMCft against its full capacity of 29.91 TMCft.
Since the inflows to the project increased to 5,300 cusecs, the irrigation officials decided to release the water to downstream Nizamsagar project through 15MW Hydro-Power Project.
ADE, TS Genco, K Ragupathi Reddy said, “the power generation from one of the two 7.5 MW
project was initially started at 8 am. Later, the power generation from second unit was started at around 10:30 am on Tuesday. He further said that they have been generating a maximum of 15 MW by 11 am by releasing 3,000 cusecs of water.
Reddy said that they have generated 3.4 Million Units of power since March this year against the last years 10 million units.DyEE, Irrigation, A Balaganesh said that they would not lift the crest gates of the project unless they get more inflows from upstream. However, he said that they would continue to release the water from power generation units as long as they get water from upstream.
