Nagaland is all set to celebrate the 54th Statehood Day and the 18th Hornbill festival 2017 today at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.
President Ram Nath Kovind who is on a maiden visit to the state will grace the occasion and inaugurate the 10 day State Hornbill festival 2017.
The President arrived in Kohima yesterday. He was accorded the Guard of Honour by the Assam Rifles. Chief Minister T R Zeliang and his Cabinet colleagues called on the President and held a meeting at Raj Bhavan, Kohima.
Mr. Kovind interacted with various civil
societies to acquaint himself with the social and political pulse of the state.
The route leading to Kisama, which is 12Km away from the capital city has been all decked up with decoration to give festive ride. Tight security arrangement has been made in view of the festival.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted people of Nagaland on their statehood day. In a tweet, Mr Modi said this state is blessed with immense natural beauty and industrious citizens. He pray that the state scales new heights of development in the times to come.
