Prime Minister Narendra today inaugurated the 60-Megawatt Tuirial Hydro power Project in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram. Mr Modi said it is the first major central government project to be successfully commissioned in the state.
He said the project was first cleared by the previous NDA government led by Atal Behari Vajpayee in 1998 but got delayed. Mr Modi said the completion of this project is a reflection of the Centre's commitment to complete ongoing projects and usher in a new era of development in the North
Eastern region.
Earlier, in a series of tweets, Mr Modi said, development projects will give a fresh impetus to the development journey of the Northeast. Mr Modi will leave for Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya later today to inaugurate development projects in the state.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Shillong-Nongstoin-Rongjeng-Tura Road, which will improve connectivity and further economic growth. Mr Modi will also address a public meeting in Shillong.
