Hyderabad: Condemning beheading of two Indian soldiers by Pakistani forces in Jammu and Kashmir, MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday said it was high time the government took strong steps to prevent such incidents.
“I outrightly condemn the barbaric behaviour of the Pakistani Army. Even in wars, such things do not happen. But, a barbaric incident has happened, wherein it clearly shows the mindset of these people who have no iota of humanism left in them,” he told reporters here.
“How long are they going to hide behind their rhetoric? How long are they going to hide behind their so-called aggressive nationalism?” he said. Citing the postponement of Anantnag Lok Sabha bypoll as an example, Owaisi said it shows the mis-governance of the PDP-BJP government in Jammu and
Kashmir.
The Election Commission, which had earlier postponed the bypoll to May 25 from April 12, cancelled it on Tuesday, citing poor law and order situation and lack of adequate central forces.
“They have no Kashmir policy. What more can be a great example of their mis-governance that the Anantnag bypoll had to be postponed? The Election Commission ordered 75,000 personnel. The government said we cannot give…Half of that were used for three States,” he said. “May be, they want the Kashmir issue to remain as it is,” the MIM president said.
Responding to a query about BJP president Amit Shah’s reported comments that nation is above politics, Owaisi asked why strong steps are not taken to see that peace returns to Kashmir if that was the case.
