All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen Majlis floor leader and Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi on Tuesday emphasised on the need for unity among Indians to resist divisive forces that are tearing the country apart. Addressing a gathering at the Aam Khas ground in Aurangabad after a decade, he called upon the Marathas and backward communities to ally with Muslims and collectively fight for each others rights. Owaisi also announced AIMIM's support for quota activist Manoj Jarange and his demand for Maratha reservation.
He said the targeting of Muslims in differents parts of the country for their food habits and traditions is weaking the country. He also criticised the unusual alliances formed between Hindutva followers and secular parties merely to remain in power. I wat to ask if Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have imparted teachings of secularism to Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena. Did Ajit Pawar impart teachings of corruption to PM N Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath? he asked.
Owaisi urged Sharad Pawar to assure the public that
he would not join hands with Narendra Modi post-election and that Ajit Pawar would not reunite with Sharad Pawar. He also demanded the Marathwada statutory development board recieve a budget allocation of Rs.50,000 crore.
Owaisi also said government is diverting the public's attention with issues like triple talaq and CAA-NRC, instead of addressing real problems such as unemployment, economic decline, farmer suicides and frequent rapes. He criticised UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath's divisive slogan, Batoge to Katoge, saying that communal politics is being used as a distraction from critical issues.
On Aurangabad being renamed Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, he said Renaming is not going to address the issues of farmer suicide, unemployment, water crisis, crime against women etc.
Former MP Syed Imtiaz Jaleel set to contest from Aurangabad East assembly constituency, accused BJP of fielding 28 Muslim candidates to dilute the Majlis vote.
