Ahead of the Assembly elections in Gujarat All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has sparked a fresh row by accusing both the leading political parties BJP and Congress of politicising religions. 

While addressing a gathering in Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi said BJP and Congress leaders of being hypocrites for pointing out each other’s religions. Recently, The AIMIM chief had also accused the Congress of divisive politics in Gujarat in the run-up to the assembly elections in December.



Gujarat goes to polls on December 9 and December 14.

During the gathering in Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi said, “BJP leaders are calling Rahul Gandhi a non-Hindu and Congress is calling Modi a non-Hindu, but when I say I am a Muslim, why am I questioned?” The AIMIM chief lashed out at the Congress saying, “In Gujarat, there is 12 percent Patidars and 11 percent Muslims, 32 MLAs are Patidar and 2 MLAs are Muslim out of 182. The Congress is giving reservation to the Patidars and lollipop to the Muslims.”
