AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has condemned the suspected honour killing of a Dalit man by the family of his Muslim wife in Hyderabad, deploring the act of murder as “the worst crime in Islam”.
B Nagaraju, 25, was beaten and stabbed to death by his wife’s brother and an accomplice in the middle of a busy street in Saroornagar, Hyderabad earlier this week. The deceased’s family has alleged that he was killed because the woman’s family was opposed to their interfaith marriage.
Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi said the accused were swiftly arrested but certain parties with vested interests are trying to give the incident a “different
colour”.
“The murder of Nagaraju in Hyderbad is against Islam. The girl married him of her own will and the law upholds this. Her brother had no right to kill her husband. It is a criminal act and the worst crime as per Islam,” he said, adding that the accused should be punished.
The vicious murder of Nagaraju happened on Wednesday evening, when he was travelling on a motorbike with his wife and was confronted by his wife's brother Syed Mobin Ahmed and his accomplice, Mohammed Masood Ahmed.
The two assailants stopped the couple on the road and attacked the man in full public view with an iron rod before stabbing him with a knife, killing him on the spot, police said.
