All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimin (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday mocked the Delhi Police for filing an FIR against a 'toolkit' on the farmers' protest in India shared by climate activist Greta Thunberg.
In a tweet, Owaisi, in a sardonic tone, said, "After wiping out all crime from the streets of Delhi, Delhi police has risen up to the challenge of fighting India’s most powerful enemy....a Swedish teenager with opinions. Who’s next on FIR list? Santa Claus for animal cruelty?"
The Hyderabad MP also claimed that "Delhi pogrom victims are still waiting for justice".
His other statement, which he tweeted, is a reference to the Delhi riots which shook the national capital in February last year over Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests. In February 2020, frenzied clashes
between pro- and anti-CAA protesters in Jafrabad flared into communal violence and spread all over the northeast Delhi.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police on Thursday had filed an FIR against teen climate change activist Greta Thunberg over her recent tweets on farmers' protests. However, it later clarified that no one has been named in the FIR and it is only against makers of the "toolkit" shared by Thunberg.
The 18-year-old climate enthusiast fanned controversy after she shared a "toolkit" in order to mark solidarity with the farmers' protest over India's new contentious farm laws -- the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
