AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday expressed hope that the political alliance headed by T.T.V Dhinakaran will emerge victorious in Tamil Nadu elections. He said his party's aim was to ensure the win of those with whom the AIMIM has allied with for the polls.
Addressing an election meeting in Vellore, he said Tamil Nadu requires a third political front and criticised the DMK for what he called a lapdog of the BJP.
In the Lok Sabha when I moved amendments against the Citizens Amendment Act, I got only nine votes. What stopped DMK and Congress MPs from supporting my amendments. Now they have the cheek
to say that we are dividing votes in Tamil Nadu, he said.
He said in Tamil Nadu as far as Muslims minorities are concerned, their population is 7% and 11% of Muslims are languishing in jails. Who is responsible for this, he asked. The ratio of dropouts in Muslims is very high. He asserted that the people of Tamil Nadu want a secular alliance. We should not only stand to represent the hopes and aspirations which are mentioned in our constitution of liberty, equality, fraternity and justice, but to also ensure the dreams of Anna Periyar and Amma be realized in Tamil Nadu, he said.
