All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday expressed his condolences over the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and said that India has lost its son.
In a video statement released to the media, Mr. Owaisi reflected on Dr.Singh’s life and contributions, particularly noting his journey as a refugee during the Partition. “It is a fact that Manmohan Singh sir was a refugee of the Partition, and on account of his sincerity and honesty, he discharged his duties with utmost dedication, whether as RBI Governor or
Finance Minister of India,” Owaisi said.
He also highlighted Dr. Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister, which began in 2004, stating that Dr. Singh was the first to make significant efforts for the upliftment of marginalised communities, especially Muslims. “During his term as PM, he worked hard to uplift and ensure the rights of the marginalised, especially Muslims, were addressed,” he added.
Mr. Owaisi expressed deep sorrow at Dr. Singh’s passing. “I stand with those mourning his passing,” he concluded.
