Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday slammed Bharatiya Janata Party MP Pragya Thakur Singh for her controversial comments in Parliament and called her an enemy of Gandhiji and sympathiser of his killers.
Owaisi, who is in the national capital, said that portraying Nathuram Godse as a patriot is the inner voice of the BJP speaking, and it is not the first time she is praising Godse. Not satisfied with Thakur’s clarification that she was speaking about someone else, he said she was lying. He asked that the record of what she had said be verified. He termed her expulsion from the Parliamentary
Committee on defence as mere eyewash, as she has been expressing these views repeatedly.
Owaisi said it reflects her mentality and shows that she is an enemy of Mahatma Gandhi and has affection for his killers. This is absurd and shows insolence towards the father of the nation and is against the privilege of Parliament.
Owaisi said he has given a privilege notice to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Om Birla, on these remarks. If we do not take action in the House, a time will come when a photo of Godse will hang in the Central Hall of Parliament, Owaisi said.
