All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday slammed at the BRS government for neglecting the upgradation and construction of a new building for Osmania General Hospital in the Old City. He termed it as blatant injustice against the people of Hyderabad.
Referring to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao setting the foundation stone for the extension of Nims-Hyderabad hospital at a cost of Rs 1,571 crore on Wednesday, Asaduddin on Monday tweeted, "@TelanganaCMO is laying the foundation stone for the extension of NIMS at the cost of Rs 1,571 crore. I have been continuously demanding Osmania Hospital’s urgently needed upgradation & new building. Why this neglect towards the needs of Hyderabadis?"
Expressing ire over the delay in the upgradation and construction of OGH, Owaisi said, "Despite my meeting last year in
May with engineers, health minister Harish Rao and other ministers, no progress has been made. This is blatant injustice against the people of the Hyderabad constituency. It is also a grave disservice to doctors, medical students and people of Telangana who come to Hyderabad for treatment."
Stating that the dilapidated building of OGH doesn’t serve the needs of a modern hospital, Owaisi said, " The restoration of the old building and construction of the new building was estimated to be Rs 560 crores.
This amount is peanuts for a "prosperous" state government that seems to have funds for everything in the world."
"What’s the use of public money if it’s not helping the poorest get life-saving healthcare? What other reason is there for the delay in starting work on Osmania?" Owaisi questioned.
