Ahead of opening places of worship from June 8, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday urged the State government to convene a meeting of all religious scholars from all communities to decide on physical distancing guidelines required to be followed in all the places of worship in the State.
He requested Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to take the initiative, emphasising the need for precautions to co-exist with Covid-19.
In a series of tweets, Owaisi also requested Muslims especially Muftis to consider a few suggestions
to prevent spread of the deadly virus in mosques. He advised them to remove the carpets used to offer namaz at the mosques and offer prayers directly on stone floor. He emphasised the need to explain to senior citizens and people with co-morbidities to avoid congregations at least till June end.
He felt that Wazu should be offered at home, besides keeping the toilets and Wazu facilities in mosques closed until further orders. He requested to maintain physical distancing during congregational prayers.
