For Sangh, anything pertaining to Islam is “religious” but anything to do with Hinduism is “cultural/moral”, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted following Karnataka Education Minister BC Nagesh’s remarks on the inclusion of the Bhagvad Gita in school syllabus.
Gita is a religious text. All religious texts have moral components. Not that Sanghis care, but religious instruction in govt & aided schools is banned by Article 28,” Owaisi
wrote.
While Sanghis were collaborating with Britishers, Muslim ulema fought Britishers, presumably inspired by Qur’an & Hadith. Bhagvad Gita may have inspired some to fight against British but that isn’t reason enough to make it mandatory in school syllabus,” he further said.
On Monday, BC Nagesh announced that the Bhagavad Gita will be taught as part of the moral education syllabus in schools and colleges across the state from December.
