Hyderabad: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen boosted by its presence in many states, said that it would be holding its first national convention on February 25 and 26 in Mumbai. For its first-ever major event outside Hyderabad, the party has organised a public meeting on the first day in Mumbra and on the second day at Malad.

Majlis president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi reviewed the arrangements with MIM Aurangabad MP Imtiaz Jaleel, the party's Maharashtra president and chairman of the organising committee, at Darussalam on Thursday.

Senior leaders from Telangana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka are expected to attend the landmark event.

Announcing this, Owaisi said, Jaleel would be briefing the media about the details of the convention on February 25.

Responding to questions from reporters, Owaisi, referring to minister of external affairs S. Jaishankar's remarks on the border issue with China, felt that he was accepting that the Prime Minister had misled the nation.

Owaisi said that the government was not ready to discuss serious issues despite the fact that India has failed to secure status quo at

the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China as it was before 2020. "The Modi government is scared of the truth whether it is China issue, the BBC documentary, Gujarat riots or Ladakh. Why don't they take the media to the site in Ladakh, as it would clear all doubts. It is a known fact presented in the DGP conference that India is not able to patrol at 25 points out of 65," he said.

On the Congress response to the Bhiwani incident, where two youths were killed by alleged cow protection vigilantes, Owaisi felt that it had turned into a 'party of elite'. “It is not more than a 45-minute drive from Alwar, where the Congress leadership was present at a royal wedding (to Bhiwani). If Junaid and Nasir were not Muslim, (Rajasthan Chief Minsiter) Ashok Gehlot would have rushed there. The unfortunate part is the leaders were busy attending a royal wedding in Alwar when the Bhiwani killings happened," he said.

Earlier, Janab Asaduddin Owaisi along with Janab Imtiyaz Jaleel, MP Aurangabad distributed study material kits (All In One) to Class 10 Urdu medium students of Hyderabad city. The MIM said 8,000 kits were being disturbed among the students, 2,000 of them in the city and rest in the districts. The total cost was Rs 22.56 lakh, the party said in a statement.
