Stating that the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen would focus on contesting from new Assembly seats to contest in the upcoming elections, party chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday predicted that the BRS would come to power for the third consecutive time.
The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief and Hyderabad MP did not clarify the number of seats the party would contest in Telangana. It has contested in Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and other places in previous Assembly elections.
Speaking to mediapersons on Friday here, Owaisi praised Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao saying he had vast experience in politics and had the qualities to occupy the seat of Prime Minister. The BJP would win seats in the single digits, he said.
"We can't underestimate Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao who plays a
key role in politics. No one can beat him in the state. The BJP is very weak in many districts and has no cadre," Owaisi said.
Owaisi also spoke on India-China issues. He demanded that the BJP-led government at the Centre conduct a special session of Parliament to discuss China encroaching on 2,000 square kilometres of Indian territory. In 25 places, no patrolling points existed for Indian security personnel, he claimed.
"Why is Prime Minister Narendra Modi running behind the Chinese President for talks," Owaisi asked, going by a Chinese claim. "The Ministry of External Affairs must release a statement," he said. Owaisi asked why Modi had kept India in the dark about the developments in Ladakh. "We lost 2,000 kilometres to China and it was the property of India and not of the BJP," Owaisi said.
