HYDERABAD: MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has appreciated Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s announcement on providing immediate relief to rain-affected families.
As per the announcement, the government will extend `10,000 as immediate relief to each household affected by floods. An assistance of Rs 1 lakh will be made available to houses totally damaged and Rs 50,000 to those partially damaged.
The MP said these grants will help affected families rebuild their lives. “Distribution of relief in inundated colonies will begin on Tuesday. AIMIM functionaries are always there to assist you in ensuring that you receive the financial aid,” he stated.
Earlier, the MIM chief said in a post on Twitter: “I’ve personally seen the devastation that the deluge has caused to people in Hyderabad Parliament constituency and Rajendranagar. People have lost their life savings; they’ve also lost all essential household items: stoves, clothes and utensils.”
According to GO MS 2 of 2015, houses
that have suffered serious/partial damage are entitled to get `95,100. Seventy five per cent of this amount comes from the Centre.
Owaisi said in GHMC and adjoining municipalities, destruction due to flash floods has been total. “It is essential that the relief is given immediately, though I understand that the state's finances are going through a difficult phase due to centre's refusal to pay GST compensation.
The MP said the Chief Minister has sought an emergency aid of Rs 1,350 crore from the centre. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not even cared to respond or send a team to assess damages. This is the respect he has for our people, who have faced the worst disaster in 100 years. It is insulting, he remarked.
The MIM chief said, “I must appreciate the Government of Telangana for handing over ex gratia cheques within 48 hours to families who lost their near ones in the flash foods. It is rare that state governments act so quickly in granting relief.”
