Islam can never be in danger. It is the country that is in danger, the social fabric and the Constitution that is in danger," said All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, slamming the BJP's "Hindutva agenda". Owaisi also hit out at PM Narendra Modi, accusing him of becoming the chief promoter and ideological scriptwriter of ‘The Kerala Story’.
Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday claimed there was no religious polarisation happening in the country. Elaborating on his statement, he said, “Polarisation happens when there are two equal sides. In reality, there is a majoritarian hate agenda which the BJP is promoting.”
“It has alienated and marginalised Muslims more than ever,” Owaisi said at India Today Conclave South 2023.
The Hindutva agenda of the BJP was paying dividends to the party at the polls, the AIMIM chief said. Meanwhile, he said, those belonging to the Muslim community were casting their vote out of fear of becoming second-class citizens.
"The state where I come from, the BJP president says they will demolish the secretariat because it resembles Muslim domes. Where is the other side in this? Amit Shah comes and says they will remove four per cent reservation. Where is the other side in this," he demanded.
Asked if he was playing on the fear of Muslims, Owaisi denied the charge, and said, “Islam can never be in danger. It is the country that is in danger, the social fabric
and the Constitution that is in danger.”
To drive his point home, he mentioned how at the inauguration of the new Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was flanked by Hindu seers and prostrated before a religious symbol.
“Is he the Prime Minister of one religion? That is why I’m saying this is the one-way propaganda of the BJP,” Owaisi said.
He also compared the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament House to a "religious festival" where the Prime Minister was the "superstar".
Asaduddin Owaisi hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that he was the "chief promoter" and "ideological script writer" of the controversial film 'The Kerala Story'.
In a conversation with India Today's Consulting Editor Rajdeep Sardesai at the Conclave South 2023 in Kerala's Kovalam, Owaisi said PM Modi "has an additional duty of promoting movies" and said 'The Kerala Story' was based on "complete lies".
"The chief promoter and the ideological script writer is the Prime Minister of India. He promoted it. The Prime Minister now has an additional duty of promoting movies. The film stars should be thanking their stars that had the Prime Minister started acting, their careers would have been finished," the AIMIM MP from Hyderabad said.
"The movie is based on complete lies," he further said on The Kerala Story.
