All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday slammed the BJP and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over their claims that the BJP government at the Centre was planning to introduce Uniform Civil Code and shutting down madrasas.
Owaisi said that the BJP was entertaining the false hope that through its anti-Muslim rhetoric it could gain politically in the state.
Reacting to Sarma’s speech at the Hindu Ekta Yatra in Karimnagar organised by state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday, Owaisi said Sarma’s hypocrisy was on display. "The Chief Minister of Assam talks about Uniform
Civil Code on one hand and love jihad on the other. How can they bring the UCC when they are bringing law against conversion on the other side? This shows Assam CM’ hypocrisy and hatred against the Muslim community," Owaisi said here in an interview with a news agency.
On the Telangana BJP, Owaisi said, "the BJP has reached saturation point in Telangana and hence it is worried. They are in the false hope that the closure of madrassas will stop the education imparted in them. The BJP’s language is always divisive, spreading fear. I am sure people of Telangana will reject such language," Owaisi said.
