A social media post claiming a Brahminical ancestry of Asaduddin Owasi garnered the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader’s attention, who poked fun at right-wingers, saying "Sanghis have to find an ancestor from the caste now".
Responding to a post claiming Brahminical ancestry of the great-grandfather of Farooq Abdullah and father of Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, he said, "It’s
amusing how the Sanghis are obsessed with finding a Brahmin ancestor for them also. We have to answer for our own deeds. We are all children of Adam & Hawa AS."
In the same post, he said: "His fight for a democratic struggle for equal rights & citizenship of Muslims is a fight for modern India’s soul. It is not ‘Hinduphobia’."
