Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi's temple-hopping in Gujarat, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that while the Congress president visited 18 temples, he did not visit a single mosque.

"Mandir jaana hathyar hai, Masjid jaana bimaari hai," Asaduddin Owaisi said, reacting to a comment by Congress leader Sanjay Nipuram at the India Today Conclave.

Defending Rahul Gandhi's visits to temples in the run-up to Gujarat Assembly election, Sanjay Nirupam said that since the Congress was using the same weapon (hathyar) as the BJP, the

latter was calling Rahul Gandhi "janeu-dhari".

Nirupam said that the BJP was rattled by Rahul Gandhi's visits to temples in Gujarat.

To this Owaisi said, "Mandir jaana hathyar hai, Masjid jaana bimaari hai (Temple-hopping is a weapon, but to visit a mosque is a disease)".

Sanjay Nirupam countered and said that Rahul Gandhi visits dargahs as well. The Congress leader accused the BJP of running a concerted campaign against the party. "To say that we are against Hindu traditions, hurts us," Nirupam said.
