A day after police in Pune refused to give All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Asaduddin Owaisi permission to hold a rally, the Lok Sabha MP described the notice as a ‘love letter.’ Owaisi, who was in Pune on Saturday to attend the Tahffuje Shariyat Conference tweeted, “I have been again served a “ Love Letter” by @PuneCityPolice on the public meeting which is being held for Tahaffuz Shariat and Islah e mushaira. It is shocking and an attempt to curb my fundamental right. I hope the National leaders of Congress, BJP and Shiv Sena will also be given a notice?”

Pune police served

a notice to Owaisi under Section 149 of CrPC (notice issued to prevent cognizable offences), minutes before he was to address a public meeting at Azad College in Pune.

Owaisi addressed a huge gathering at the Azad campus ground in the morning, hoping to hold another big rally in the evening, but cops played spoilsport.

Addressing the public meeting, Owaisi also raked up the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi by Nathuram Godse. Calling Godse the ‘Number 1 Hindu Ratna terrorist’, Owaisi dared Pune police to also serve him a notice.
