MIM leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday charged PM Narendra Modi with failing to implement his own promise of providing jobs to minorities. He also alleged that Union ministry of minority affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was spreading misleading information about job generation though no jobs were provided in last four years.
Owaisi pointed out that PM’s 15-point programme for minorities specifically talks about recruitment to state and central services in point no. 10. Speaking to the media, Owaisi challenged Modi to explain if these promises were fulfilled.
Under point no. 10, it is
mentioned that in the recruitment of police personnel, state governments should give special consideration for minorities. For this purpose, the composition of selection committees should be representative. Owaisi explained that as per rules, even if 10 people were to be recruited, selection committee should necessarily have a dalit, an ST and a minorities member.
According to point no. 10, the Centre should also follow same procedure in recruitment for central police forces.“I have all the right to question the government on why this has not been implemented,” Owaisi said.
