Hyderabad MP and MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday said the country cannot be ruled on the basis of “Hindi, Hindu and Hindustan”.In his Twitter message Owaisi said, “As an MP I have taken oath in Urdu three times, so is that unconstitutional. Will again take (oath) in Urdu in 2019 Insha Allah (God willing),” adding that India cannot be governed on the basis of Hindi, Hindu and Hindustan.
The MIM leader was reacting to
reports of trouble in the municipal corporation of Aligarh on Tuesday after a corporator belonging to the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) took oath of office and secrecy in Urdu.
There was opposition to the BSP member preferring to be sworn-in in Urdu. Referring to the incident, Owaisi said he had already taken oath as an MP thrice earlier and he would, God willing, do so after the general elections in 2019.
