The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) has confirmed Mirza Riyaz-ul-Hassan as its candidate for the Hyderabad local bodies MLC election. Riyaz-ul-Hassan, a prominent political figure, was previously elected as a corporator from Noor Khan Bazar in 2009 and Dabirpura in 2016. In 2019, he was appointed as an MLC under the MLA quota, a role he served in until 2023. Now, AIMIM has once again given him the opportunity to contest the MLC election for Hyderabad local bodies.
The election for the Hyderabad local bodies MLC seat has seen nominations from both major political parties. BJP’s candidate N Gautam Rao and AIMIM’s Mirza Riyaz-ul-Hassan
Effendi have filed their nomination papers for the election, making it a competitive race. Additionally, two independent candidates have also submitted their nominations, making it a four-candidate contest so far.
The Hyderabad local bodies MLC election will take place on the 23rd of April, 2025. The counting of votes is scheduled for the 25th of April, and the results will be announced shortly after. The election has become particularly significant, as it follows the BJP’s nomination of its candidate, which has led to a dynamic contest, with the MIM expected to receive support from Congress.
