The Majlis-eIttehadul Muslimeen (MIM) is all set to bridge the gap with Dalits in the Nampally Assembly constituency beginning August 3. The ek dil ek jaan Dalit, aur musalmaan (one heart one soul, Dalit and Muslim) campaign launched by MIM legislator Jafar Hussain Meraj will see people of both the communities breaking bread together.

“We will begin at the Mangod Basthi in the Nampally assembly constituency on Thursday. We all will have food together. This will be a weekly

practice. There are around 30 areas in the Nampally Assembly constituency which have a substantial Dalit population,“ the legislator said.

MIM has been trying to work for the cause for past several years. It was during the Maharashtra elections that the slogan `Jai Meem, Jai Bhim' resonated.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has on several occasions spoken about Dalit Muslim unity and hoped that it would be achieved during his lifetime.
