The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s call to party leaders and workers to establish a more proactive contact with the electorate seems to have spurred them in coming up with programmes aimed at reaching out to the citizens.
The party corporator from Shastripuram, Mohammed Misbahuddin, has already launched a contact programme with residents in his division with a uniquely named programme ‘Aap ke Dahleej Par – Kabhi bhi’ (At your doorstep – Anytime).
Misbahuddin, an engineer turned corporator from the southern new growth areas of the city, said the programme was aimed at reaching out to people and take note of their issues and grievances. The message sought to be driven, he said, is that he was available for the locals any time they need and help in redressal of their grievances.
“Generally, we conduct visits to the localities time and again to understand the civic issues and take remedial measures. But as part of the programme taken up now, we aim to further improve our public
relations and connect with the masses,” he said.
The initiative aims to improve the civic conditions in the localities covering Shastripuram like Hassannagar, Shastripuram, Kings Colony, Mahmoodnagar and Vattepally areas falling under the division.
“Every morning, we are paying a visit to the localities in the division. We are meeting the public and noting down their grievances. These complaints and issues will be taken up with the authorities to get them resolved with the active support of our party president,” he said.
In the last few days, the corporator has taken up visits in different areas of the division and plans to cover the entire division in the next fortnight. “Every two months we will take up one such programme,” he assures local residents.
The initiative is seen by the Majlis party workers as one that will help improve their connect with the public and is likely to be implemented in other areas of the old city.
