MIM ties up with BSP to fight Nanded civic polls

The Majlis-eIttehadul Muslimeen has again jumped into the electoral fray in Maharashtra by contesting the Nanded municipal polls. It has allied with Bahujan Samaj Party. The alliance will see the MIM contesting 33 seats and BSP contesting 22.

Party president Asaduddin Owaisi and party workers are busy campaigning in several neighbourhoods and wards. Asaduddin is expected to remain in the city for another two days. A larger number of legislators from Hyderabad are expected to join the campaign.

“The Maharashtra president Syed Moin is from Nanded. His mother was elected as a corporator there. The mood is upbeat and the campaign is in full swing,“ said a member of



the party .The alliance with the BSP is another step towards Dalit-Muslim unity which Asaduddin has spoken about on several occasions.“You can say that this is a continuation of `Jai Meem Jai Bhim' slogan. The party is doing all that it can to take people into confidence. We have proved that we have worked hard,“ he said. The party candidates will be fighting it out at Bilal Nagar, Madina Nagar, Pakeeza Nagar, Omar Colony , among other places.

In 2012, the party had tasted success in the Nanded municipal polls. Sources from the MIM said that in 2017 they are hoping not only to do even better. The Nanded municipal polls are scheduled for October 11.
