MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday said that no person, including Muslim clergy , has the right to `give' away masjid.
While Owaisi did not say who he was referring to, it was likely that he was reacting to a statement by Shiite cleric Maulana Kalbe Sadiq.
Earlier on Sunday, Maulana Sadiq reportedly said that Muslims should give away the Babri Masjid `land' to the Hindu community as it was deeply attached to it. Taking to Twitter, Owaisi, in a series of tweets, said, “Masjids cannot be given just because 1Maulana says so,Allah is the owner not a Maulana once a Masjid always
a Masjid Set to decide on Evidence (sic).“
He said that masjids are administered by people belonging to various sects and schools of thought even as he asserted tha the `owner' of the place of wors hip was God. “Masjids can be managed by Shia, Sunni, Barel vi, Sufi, Deobandi, Salafi, Bohri but they are not owners ALLAH is the owner even AIMPLB can not give (sic),“ he tweeted.
Maulana Sadiq and Owais both are members of the the Al India Muslim Personal Law Board. Owaisi is a member of the board's important working committee.
