India’s coal production reached nearly 84 million tonnes last month, exhibiting a growth rate of over 10 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, which stood at over 76 million tonnes. The Coal Ministry said that during this period, Coal India Limited achieved a coal production of over 64 million tonnes, marking a growth of over 7.46 percent compared to the same period last year, when it was nearly 60 million
tonnes.
Additionally, coal production by Captive and other entities in May 2024 stood at 13.78 million tonnes, reflecting a growth of 32.76 percent from the previous year, which was 10.38 million tonnes. India’s overall coal dispatches last month reached nearly 91 million tonnes, up by over 10 percent compared to the same period last year when it was recorded at over 82 million tonnes.
