The Direct Benefit Transaction (DBT) has brought in more transparency in governance and the linkage of Jan Dhan Bank account-Aadhar and Mobile phone has proven much beneficial, especially to the poor across the country. They are not depending now on anyone to find out when they are going to get the benefits of their pension or scholarship or any other scheme. The JAM trinity has been a game changer in Telangana as the benefits of 135 schemes in 20 departments are being transacted through JAM.
The Jan Dhan Bank account has not only given access to banking services to the poor but also multiplied the benefits when it is linked with their Aadhar number and Mobile phone. Crores of people from different walks of life in Telangana state are now enjoying the benefits of JAM Trinity and feeling that the ease of living has been improved.
Over 73 lakh Direct Benefit Transfer transactions to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries were reported
in 2019 in the state. The same has multiplied several times to 7 crore 87 lakh by the end of the last fiscal, that is March this year. Similarly, the value of DBTs was at over 15 thousand 631 crore rupees in 2019 and it increased to over 21 thousand 357 crore rupees by the end of March this year.
Now, people are getting the benefits of 135 schemes, both central and State sponsored programmes of 20 departments directly into their bank accounts. Sajeeda from Khammam district in Telangana says the JAM trinity provided her with much ease and now she is able to transact any payment or receipt hassle free in no time.
The state had transacted over 1 lakh 15 thousand crore rupees since 2019 and 71.75 crore transactions through DBT. Thanks to JAM the beneficiaries are getting their due without making rounds to Government offices and banks for their benefits under various welfare schemes.
