Asian markets opened today’s trade on a negative note. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was down 3.70 per cent at 31,834, while the South Korean index Kospi fell 0.80 per cent to 2,315. US Futures too have fallen 1.36 per cent. The GIFT Nifty indicates a weak start for India too.
The US markets gave up intra-day gains and ended
yesterday’s session lower. This resulted in a 12 per cent rout on the S&P 500 over 4 sessions. This was triggered by the US imposing a new set of tariffs on China for missing US President Donald Trump’s deadline to lift retaliatory tariffs on US goods, the global markets were once again shaken.
