The government has issued a notification for the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme. Recently, the Union Cabinet approved this scheme with a funding of 22,919 crore rupees to make India Atmanirbhar in the electronics supply chain.

Addressing the media in New Delhi about the scheme, Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw yesterday said that after the issuance of the notification, the process of holding consultations with the industries will begin for framing the guidelines for the implementation of the scheme. He added that within a few weeks, a portal will be opened for receiving applications under



the scheme.

Mr Vaishnaw highlighted that in the last ten years, the country has registered a remarkable growth in the electronics sector. He said that in the last ten years, electronics manufacturing has increased by five times while electronics exports registered a sixfold growth. 

Mr Viashnaw also informed that mobile phone exports surpassed 2 lakh crore rupees in the 2024-25 financial year, registering a growth of 54 per cent over 2023-24. The union minister also said that in the last decade, 25 lakh jobs have been created in the sector.
