Coal production expected to increase to 1,533 million tonnes by 2030

Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy said the coal production is expected to increase to 1,533 million tonnes by 2030. Replying to supplementaries in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister highlighted the government’s roadmap to boost domestic coal production for Viksit Bharat 2047. He said, his Ministry has set a target of producing up to 140



million tonnes of raw coking coal by 2030. 

In a written reply, the Minister informed that the Study group constituted to examine the issue of revising the present royalty rates on coal and lignite had recommended no increase and the same was accepted by the government.
