India’s coal sector has crossed the milestone of one billion tonnes in cumulative production for the financial year 2024-25, reaching over 1,047 million metric tonnes. The Ministry of Coal yesterday announced that this represents a substantial growth of 4.99 percent compared to the financial year 2023-24, with a cumulative production of around 997 million metric tons.
The Ministry added that cumulative coal dispatch has also
demonstrated remarkable progress, with an increase of 5.34 percent. Coal dispatch reached around 1,024 million metric tons in the previous financial year, compared to 973 million metric tons in the financial year 2023-24. The Ministry hailed this as an unprecedented feat and said that it underscores its relentless efforts to enhance production, streamline dispatches, and strengthen the nation’s energy security.
