The Digi-Dhan Mela will be organised at Talkatora stadium in New Delhi today after the fair was held at Panaji in Goa, Gurugram in Haryana as well as at Ludhiana in Punjab. As many as 100 such fetes will be organised throughout the country till 14th of April next year.
In the mela, lucky draw will be held for deciding the winners who made payments through digital modes. 15,000 winners will get 1,000 rupees each and the amount will be transferred in their accounts digitally. The draw is aimed at encouraging people to move
towards significantly higher usage of digital transactions through the offer of incentives. It is also an attempt to curb corruption and the black money menace.
Only those transactions that take place through RuPay Cards, Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD), Unified Payment Interface (UPI) and Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) are eligible for these schemes. The Centre had, on Sunday, launched the Lucky Grahak Yojana and Digi Dhan Vyapar Yojana awards to encourage people to adopt cashless mode of payments.
