FCA India, the subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) announced on Thursday that it would recall around 1,200 Jeep Compass SUV's which have already been sold to customers, to replace faulty front passenger airbag.
The company said the recall decision follows a similar move by its parent in the US. FCA India said in a statement that the company was unaware of any injuries, accidents warrant claims or complaints relating to this fault.
“Customers whose
vehicles are in the affected range are advised to refrain from using the front passenger seat until the situation is remedied,” it said
According to reports, FCA was told that during the airbag installation process, loose fasteners might have been left unattended into a small number of modules.
However, the number of jeeps affected were estimated to be less than one per cent of the total recall, the company said in the statement.
