Gangtok: Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman will flag off various programmes of NABARD in Gangtok, Sikkim today. She will then proceed to Lachen in Mangan district. The Union Minister reached Sikkim yesterday on a two-day visit to the state.
On the first day, the minister attended a Budget outreach programme in Gangtok where she stressed on the central government’s focus on reaching the last eligible beneficiary of welfare schemes and services. Later, the Finance Minister interacted with students and encouraged them to inculcate the spirit of innovation and unite by rising above creed, caste, religion and culture to make India a developed nation by 2047.
Speaking to industry stakeholders in
Gangtok yesterday, union minister of finance and corporate affairs Nirmala Sitharaman said that she would visit Lachen in Mangan district and border villages to ensure that all central government schemes are being implemented to achieve their intended outcomes.
She will also visit these areas to ensure that targets proposed under the Vibrant Villages programme are fulfilled. She added that follow-up visits would be scheduled to ensure that all provisions under this year's union budget reach Lachen and other border villages. The minister will attend a public interaction at Lachen Dzumsa today evening. Before proceeding to Mangan district, she will flag off programmes of NABARD in Gangtok.
