Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman yesterday chaired the seventh Pre-Budget Consultation with representatives of trade and services in New Delhi to take suggestions for the upcoming General Budget. The Pre-Budget consultation meeting was also attended by Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Chief Economic Adviser V. Anantha Nageswaran, Finance Secretary T.V. Somanathan, Secretary of Department of Expenditure, Secretaries of Department of Economic Affairs and Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
In another meeting, Ms. Sitharaman held a consultation with experts from the employment and skill development
sectors.
On Monday, Ms. Sitharaman held pre-budget meet with representatives of trade unions and labour organisations.
Last week, The Finance Minister held pre-Budget meeting with Finance Ministers of all States and Union Territories. She also held a consultation with representatives from farmer associations and agriculture economists.
Earlier, she had held similar meetings with leading experts of the financial and capital markets sector, industry leaders and associations as well as with leading economists.
