Washington: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman yesterday participated in the Global Sovereign Debt Roundtable GSDR meeting along with Managing Director of International Monetary Fund IMF Kristalina Georgieva and President of World Bank David Malpass on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings 2023 in Washington DC. 

Addressing the meeting, Ms Sitharaman said there is a need to augment present global efforts, including those of the G-20 to address growing debt distress across the globe. She further stressed the need for Debt Transparency and Information-Sharing and



clarity on the predictability and timeliness of the debt restructuring process.

Addressing investors at a round-table on ‘Investing in the India decade’ in Washington DC, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that India’s reform momentum remains unabated, presenting plenty of investment and collaboration opportunities in the country.  She added that the Government is committed to its reform agenda, aimed at creating a stronger and more dynamic economy, overcoming challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
