Foreign investors pumped over 25,000 crore rupees into the Indian capital markets in August. As per the depositories data, foreign portfolio investors, or FPIs, invested 7,320 crore rupees into equity markets and 17,960 crore rupees into the debt markets, taking the total net investment into the Indian capital markets to 25,280 crore rupees this month.
This comes after two months of consecutive positive investments into the Indian capital markets.
FPIs invested 32,365 crore rupees in equities in July and 26,565 crore rupees in June. They also invested 26,565 crore rupees in equities and 14,955 crore rupees in the debt markets in June.
So far this year, they have made a net investment of 1.5 lakh crore rupees into the Indian capital markets. FPIs have invested 42,886 crore rupees in equities and 108,948 crore rupees in debt so far in 2024.
