Days after civic authorities penalised Karachi Bakery after a customer complained about packaged sweets from the store having fungus on them, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Saturday imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the Shamshabad branch of G Pulla Reddy Sweets.

Officials visited the kitchen of Pulla Reddy after an irked customer complained that the sweets they purchased from the outlet were in rotten condition.

G Pulla Reddy Sweets is one of the major sweet shops with multiple shops in the city.

If you find a restaurant

unhygienic or its food adulterated/contaminated, you can take the incident to the notice of the GHMC as well as the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). You can lodge a complaint on the Food Licensing website https://foodlicensing.fssai.gov.in/cmsweb/main1.aspx, which is part of FSSAI.

Section 54 of the FSSAI Act states that any person who sells, stores, distributes, or imports food that contains inappropriate or extraneous matter, will be liable to a penalty which may extend to one lakh rupees.
