New York : US-based tech MNC Google has announced the launch of the developer preview of its flagship software, Android Oreo Version 8.1, a ramped-up version of the Android Oreo.
The software, which is slated for a December launch, can be tested currently by Android Beta Program users. It is also available for download with an unlocked bootloader.
While the Beta Program issues these updates over the air, the developer preview is only compatible
with the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel C, Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL, reports The Verge.
Reports suggest that the new version will lead to the activation of the hidden Pixel Visual Core system-on-a-chip. Although the image processor is built into both the new Pixel phones, it remains dormant.
However, it is expected to be activated in the coming months to make image processing smoother, and also make HDR+ available to third-party developers.
