Government continues to procure Kharif crops at MSP from farmers as per existing Minimum Support Price schemes. Paddy procurement is continuing smoothly in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam and West Bengal.
Over 487.92 lakh metric tonne of paddy has been procured so far, which is 24.93 percent more than the corresponding period last year. Out of the total purchase of 487.92 lakh metric tonne, Punjab alone has contributed 202.77 LMT which is 41.55 percent
of total procurement. About 62.28 lakh farmers have already benefited from the ongoing Kharif crop procurement with MSP value of over 92,120 Crore rupees.
Government has also approved procurement of 51.66 lakh metric tonne of Pulse and Oilseeds in current Kharif season from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh under Price Support Scheme (PSS).
The Centre has also sanctioned procurement of 1.23 lakh metric tonne of Copra from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
