Government EMarketplace (GeM) has recorded Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) worth three lakh crore rupees in the current fiscal year so far. With this, the GeM has surpassed the total GMV of two lakh crore rupees recorded in the previous fiscal year. This was informed by GeM CEO Prashant Kumar Singh in New Delhi yesterday. Mr Singh said that there has been a notable increase in daily average GMV transactions on the
platform in the current financial year from 504 crore rupees to 914 crore rupees.
Mr. Singh said that the main focus of the GeM, which is a government initiative for the public procurement process through electronic means, is to eliminate harmful practices like collusion, corruption, and bribery in government spending.
