New Delhi: The Government has decided to sell wheat flour- Atta to consumers at the rate of 29 rupees and fifty paise per kilogram at its various retail outlets from the 6th of this month. The wheat flour will be sold at the outlets of the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India (NCCF). Kendriya Bhandar has already started selling the product at this rate today.
Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution, Sanjeev Chopra today reviewed the progress of the supply of wheat flour at this rate through various outlets in the country with a view to checking the inflationary trend in the
food economy.
During the meeting, it was decided that Kendriya Bhandar, NAFED and NCCF will lift wheat up to three Lakh Metric Tonnes from Food Corporation of India Depots for sale. These institutions agreed to supply Atta- named “Bharat Atta” or “any other suitable name” with an MRP of 29 rupees and 50 paise per kilogram.
It was also decided that any Corporation, Cooperative, Federation, Self Help Group may also get allocated wheat at 23 rupees 50 paise per kilogram from the Centre on the recommendation of the State or UT government for the sale of Atta to consumers at the decided rate.
