New Delhi: Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue collected in December 2021 was over 1.29 lakh crore. The revenues for the month of December 2021 are 13% higher than the GST revenues in the same month in 2020 and 26% higher than the GST revenues in December 2019.
Finance Ministry said, December 2021 is the sixth month in a row when GST collection stood at over 1 lakh crore rupees. Ministry said, coupled with
economic recovery, anti-evasion activities, especially action against fake billers have been contributing to the enhanced GST. It said, the improvement in revenue has also been due to various rate rationalization measures undertaken by the GST Council to correct inverted duty structure. The government hoped that the positive trend in the revenues will continue in the last quarter as well.
