The commercial taxes department has unearthed an alleged case of evasion of `18.55 crore GST by Sri Kavya Mining Infrastructures Private Limited, whose managing director Rajkumar Rekhya Roopsing Nayak has been arrested and remanded to custody.
In a release here on Sunday, commercial tax department commissioner Dr T.K. Sreedevi said, "The company MD faces charges of not reporting the turnover and taxes to an extent of `18.55 crore in the GSTR 3B returns. On verification it was found that the firm had issued GST
invoices without paying taxes."
She said the firm was accused of routing transactions without making the actual payment and issuing GST invoices in passing on the input tax credit (ITC). The beneficiary companies utilised the same for payment of tax through credit account resulting in loss of revenue to the government exchequer.
The release alleged that Sri Kavya Mining had availed a wrong ITC, which led to availing wrongful credit.
