Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri yesterday said that the Centre will invest 67 billion dollars in the natural gas sector in the next six years. Addressing the Concluding Ceremony for Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board’s (PNGRB) 12th CGD Bidding Round in New Delhi, Mr Puri said that the investment will provide Natural Gas to the end consumer at a stable price and help the country become a gas-based economy. 

Mr Puri also informed that the current measures planned by the Centre in the field of natural gas will lead to a three-fold increase in natural gas



consumption by 2030.

Elaborating on the 12th CGD Bidding Round, the Minister said that a total of eight Geographical Areas were offered during the bidding, including six North East States and two Union Territories, covering 103 Districts. Mr Puri said that the anticipated investment from the bidding is 41 thousand Crore rupees, which will generate considerable employment opportunities. Mr Puri also distributed the Letter of Intent to successful bidders of the 12th CGD Bidding Round for their respective Geographical Areas
