Private airline IndiGo was on Tuesday accused of manhandling a passenger at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport in the month of October. The passenger, identified as Rajiv Katyal, had flown in from Chennai on 6E 487.
The video shows the ground personnel asking a passenger why he used an abusive word against them. Following an argument, they are seen assaulting the passenger instead of taking him to the Central Industrial Security Force personnel or other appropriate
authorities.
Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju sought a report from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of the incident. ''Violence of any sort is deplorable and should result in criminal action,'' he was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, IndiGo Airlines issued a statement regarding the incident. ''Incident probed by designated committee. Took action against staff who was main culprit, by immediately terminating his employment,'' said the airlines in the statement.
